Curriculum
This three-day workshop will be a good exercise for watercolor and acrylic painters alike, because we will be working on paper with both mediums. We will begin with a loosely applied acrylic wash background. Working with compositional formats and resource photos, we will construct a semi-abstract picture plane with a recognizable focal area.
Using a variety of techniques for paint application and line-making, we will hone the composition with layers of color and lines. Techniques for preserving delicate wash areas while layering with opaque acrylic passages will be explored. Participants will complete a full sheet or two half-sheets during the workshop, plus technique samples in a mixed-media sketchbook.
