Larry Hughes Bio
Larry Hughes’ watercolors and drawings focus on western wilderness landscapes, particularly from Arizona, New Mexico, and west Texas. A passionate conservationist, he sees art not only as a pure aesthetic expression, but also as an opportunity to celebrate the Creator and preserve His Creation in its natural splendor. In the last three years, he has been juried as Artist in Residence at three national parks (Guadalupe Mountains, Petrified Forest, Zion), and has exhibited his work in numerous shows. While his primary interest is pristine wilderness, a contrasting series explores the destructive footprint of man on the environment. Larry is president of the Memphis-Germantown Arts League (Memphis), and is a member of the American Watercolor Society and the Southern and Tennessee Watercolor Societies.
