Brenda Mills’ Bio
Brenda considers herself a watermedia artist, prefering liquid acrylics for their intense colors and glazability. She usually begins her paintings on glass, printing the image onto watercolor paper or yupo, and then proceeds to manipulate the paint. “I love the accidents that occur and enjoy the element of surprise when painting on glass and printing my images. Obviously I enjoyed printmaking in college.”
A certified NAUI diver, she enjoys painting underwater creatures but she still loves painting images from her native Tennessee and from her travels across the U.S. Her paintings are in regional as well as international collections and she has won numerous awards. She is a member of the Tennessee, Kentucky, Knoxville Watercolor Societies and Art Group 21. Brenda also enjoys working in pastel. She is a member of the Southwest Florida Pastel Society. She exhibits her work at The Art Market Gallery in downtown Knoxville, Tennessee and in juried exhibitions.
