Barbara Jernigan’s Bio
“All I ever wanted to be was an artist.”
Though she detoured into other careers, art has been a large part of her life since she was 7 years old. Her love of watercolor came from the influence of her high school art teacher, and is where she has focused her study, her art and her own teaching. She studied art at Georgia Southern College and with many nationally famous watercolorists. She is President of the Tennessee Watercolor Society, a member of the Watauga Art League, Kingsport Art Guild, the Florida Watercolor Society and the American Watercolor Society. She has been inducted into the National League of American Pen Women. In 2011, she received the YMCA Tribute to Women in the Arts.
