Mixed Media Workshop – Interiorscapes

Sandy has been a recognized artist and art educator in TN and throughout the southeast region for 30 plus years. She has taught all levels from pre-K to college in her career as an art educator. Her paintings have garnered numerous awards and she has gained signature status in National Watercolor, Southern Watercolor and Tennessee Watercolor Societies. Her works are included in private and public collections worldwide.
For the past 10 years, Sandy has taught a popular series of watermedia and mixed media workshops around the southeast, as well as representing popular materials brands such a Golden, Ampersand, Strathmore, and Sennelier, among others.
In her words, “Being an artist is my first calling, being a teacher is my second”.
This three-day workshop will focus on the abstract portrayal of interior spaces. The title is a play on words that denotes actual room/ building interiors as well as the emotional connotation that we each build inside our being based on life experiences. Through the use of representational and symbolic imagery, we will construct a piece that is at once abstract and representational, a genre that I like to call point of departure. Class participants will learn to plan a composition, to mix intermediate colors, and to select a palette based on color symbolism and preferences.
Appropriate for both beginners and experienced painters, some experience with fluid acrylics would be helpful.
